ATTENTION: On Monday, 27 January-the day of your English Regents I will seek assistance in the "re-adjustment" of the percentage/weight that is now being calculated for the TGG Journal  on Jupiter. You will surely see a "significant" increase in the cumulative average in response to the grades you have received for this assignment. In addition, presently, the "fifteen" minute Quick-Write is weighted much too heavily and will be reduced appropriately.

Friday, January 17, 2014

ATTENTION: If you were absent on Tuesday, 14 January-you MUST make-up the Quick Write ASAP-after school. Several students have done so already...you know who you are...so approach me immediately to make arrangements to do so. You have until Wednesday, 22 January to complete this assignment- after school.

AP Language and Composition Exam Review
Basics of Analysis

Synthesis Essay

I discovered  these podcasts on another teacher's class blog and felt that  everyone who took the time to "listen" will  benefit. Preferring to hear her voice over mine, I am sure you will appreciate me sharing them with you-take note of how her "suggestions" may differ from what you have read and/or previously heard. You- and you alone- must decide what will work best for you-prior to walking into the examination room on Friday, 10 May at 0730.

Amazingly, students are still continuing to attempt to "out-smart" turnitin.com by submitting plagiarized assignments! Sadly, two students from a Band that will remain nameless attempted to do so with the Ethan Frome Realism assignment-most disturbing for me-these two students have committed this reprehensible act previously-together! Furthermore, two students from different Bands submitted similar papers and one student actually submitted a paper with a 98% Originality Report for this assignment and a 77% Originality Report for the Ethan Frome Tragic Love Story assignment.  Disciplinary action must now be taken...
Dear Parents: I have asked for your support regarding this serious situation in several posts on this blog as well as requiring your signature on class and school contracts.

Since these assignments are now considerably past-due, you will not be permitted to upload them to turnitin.com.

Please be advised that I do not accept assignments sent to me via email that were required to be uploaded to turnitin. I WILL recognize the date that your assignment was sent, but you must see me ASAP to take the required action (using the computer in Room 404) at the end of the school-day to remedy this situation. This only applies to those students who have emailed me the required assignment in a timely manner. Do not frown or grimace, by now you should be well aware of what is required-NO EXCUSES!
Schedule for Week of January 6

SAT VOCABULARY QUIZ LIST 12 ON Thursday, 9 January.

Please bring your copy of The Great Gatsby and Ethan Frome to class on Monday, 6 January so that they can be returned to the Book Room.

You will not need to bring your AP textbook to class this week.

NOTE: We will read this play as a class in preparation for the NYS Comprehensive English Examination. You will surely remember this play for decades to come...

Comprehensive English Regents Examinations

Examine the student essays and scores granted by the NYS DOE. Pay particular attention to the rationale provided for the specific score the paragraphs and the critical lens essays received.
Some of you might be rather surprised by the scoring of some of the written sample responses.
