Schedule for Week of 5 March:
NOTE: I have decided to "exclude" the rough draft requirement from your research project. You will submit your completed research paper on Thursday, 8 March. Again, I urge you to examine the "model" MLA papers offered by Diana Hacker on her site (see post below).
This week we will continue engaging in the rhetorical analysis of passages. Eventually, you will write a paragraph in response to Soto's autobiographical excerpt using the notes you generated and recorded on page 2 and 3 of the handout distributed on Thursday, 1 March. (G-Band: Tuesday; A and B Bands: Wednesday). You will do this using the Language Analysis Paragraph Rubric. Upon completion, you will exchange paragraphs with your "table-mate" and then evaluate the paragraphs using this rubric, providing "constructive" feedback to each other. Naturally, I will ask for volunteers to share their paragraphs with the class for the purpose of providing a variety of "models" for the analysis of the targeted passage.
Thursday, 8 March: Submit research paper-you know what to do if you are absent-it must be emailed to me by the end of the school-day! It must be typed! NO EXCUSES! NO EXCEPTIONS! NO NOTES FROM MOM OR DAD!
TIMED-WRITE: Rhetorical Analysis (Question 2)
Friday, 10 March: Rhetorical Devices Quiz (Matching)-see link below
