Please Note: You may now receive lower than a ✓- (75) on a Homework Assignment. I am sure you are asking, "Why the change, Diedrich? and "How much lower, Diedrich?"

My reason for the change is NOT based solely on the most recent assignment I received, but it certainly was a "major" factor to make the change. The assignment guidelines on page 48 of your Language and Composition textbook are clear. Yet, several students deviated from what was suggested (annotation, dialectical journal, or graphic organizer) even though "models" were provided and did it their way. Furthermore, I have not been pleased with the quality of the last two assignments.

On poorly completed assignments, students will receive a ✓x (65). Keep in mind that some of these assignments should have received a 55! Of course, these assignments will not be posted.

As you enter the classroom on Monday/Tuesday, I would like you to examine the most recent assignments posted in the classroom.

I will now be maintaining an individual folder for your assignments. All written assignments will be kept in this folder-this is your "portfolio" of work completed during the course of the year-yes, this will become a "Project" in April/May 2012.
