ATTENTION G-Band: Just a reminder-the Synthesis Essay Template is due as you enter the class on Thursday, 13 March-under no circumstance will I accept this assignment late. Furthermore, you will also receive an assignment on Wednesday that will be due on Thursday, 13 March-as you enter the class-you will begin this response in class on Wednesday. (Dear Parents: The Synthesis Essay Template was assigned on Monday, 10 March. Soon, I will request that your child turn-in his/her required loose-leaf binder for my review. Remarkably, several of the children, perhaps, your child has not maintained a binder since Day 1 of class. This requirement was clearly indicated in the class contract signed by parent and child (student). Once I record a "0" in Jupiter, that "0" will remain. No excuses, No exceptions. The children are required to bring the loose-leaf binder with them to class EVERY DAY!)
Please review my posts regarding this requirement. I will not permit students to go to their locker to retrieve their binder and/or permit them to turn-it in at a later date.

Dear Students: Soon, you will see your score for the Logical Fallacy Quiz posted on Jupiter (it will not have any "impact" on your cumulative average-this time...). Unfortunately, even though you had two weeks to prepare, many of you waited until Tuesday/Wednesday to prepare-this was quite obvious. You will have a "second" chance on Monday, 10 March to take another Logical Fallacy Quiz. Again, review the power-points posted below and download and print the handout posted. Your quiz will differ slightly-you will be required to match the definition with the specific fallacy as well as to match the fallacy with the example provided.

MONDAY, 3 MARCH: WE WILL DISCUSS "A Modest Proposal" along with several other satires. I would like to have several students lead this discussion with the assistance of a "DISCUSSION GUIDE" (Ideally, everyone SHOULD download and print this resource, you will react/respond to the "suggested" responses to the questions identified in this guide. Certainly, we will not address ALL of the questions-you will determine what is discussed-although Diedrich has his "favorite" ones and will most likely direct you to them if not asked by any of your classmates.
TUESDAY, 4 MARCH: TIMED WRITE: A rhetorical analysis of a SATIRE. NOTE: This will be changed to Thursday, 6 March if we have a "SNOW-DAY" on Monday and/or if attendance is low. I urge you to review the power-points that I have posted and to look over the handouts that were distributed in class. Also, visit the AP Language and Composition homepage for previous examinations-focus on Question 2-the sample student papers and the commentary provided (see link that I have previously posted).
